London, 12 October: Leading classic and specialist vehicle online auction platform Car & Classic offers an unusually low-mileage 1967 Mustang Fastback which has lived a cosseted life in sunny California most of its 55 years, before being brought back to the UK for a full rebuild. It has been in dry storage since 2009 and has never been driven on UK roads.

The two-owner American muscle car’s complete recommission, completed just three months ago, includes total overhaul of its small block. The engine’s displacement was increased to 297 cu in (4.9L) with everything replaced apart from the block: new camshaft bearings, forged pistons and H-beam rods, uprated oil pump, head ported and tempered to suit unleaded fuel. The car sports a Holley 4-barrel ‘Street Warrior’ carburettor, Offenhauser intake and headers and Flowmax exhaust.

The rebuild included the rest of the drivetrain; both axles and the rear differential, driveshafts, Airshock rear springs, rebuilt front disc brakes, new master cylinder, calliper pistons, pads and brake lines.

The Candy Apple Red/Monte Carlo stripe kit car’s interior is remarkably original, with factory option GT bucket seats and ‘Sport Deck’ rear seats; the vinyl upholstery and headlining are also original.

“A large number of the classic cars auctioned by Car & Classic have been cared for consistently and lovingly for their entire life,” says Car & Classic Head of Editorial Chris Pollitt. “However, you won’t find many original 1967 Mustang Fastbacks with just 6,900 miles on the clock, having been in storage most of their life, and then recommissioned to such high standards. Make no mistake, this is no My Little Pony.”
