2024 in review| RFA Insider #23

As 2024 year draws to a close, we here at RFA Insider wanted to reflect on the first year that our podcast was created, highlighting some of the best moments we shared over the whole year.

This episode features short clips from every episode published in 2024, and in some ways it demonstrates our own growth as podcasters.

Listeners can hear a progression where early on Amy and Eugene were still getting used to each other, and then by the middle of the year, things start to get rolling.

Over the past year, some of the subjects we explored included:

  • Vietnamese Monk Thich Minh Tue and his pilgrimage across the country, and who is now traveling on foot to India.
  • North Korea sending soldiers to fight alongside Russia against Ukraine, and both countries trying to hide their presence, including by allegedly burning the faces of dead North Korean soldiers to hide their race.
  • The trial of Hong Kong media mogul Jimmy Lai
  • Panda Diplomacy and the return of pandas to the National Zoo in Washington, DC
  • RFA Lao’s decision to change its output from traditional Lao to modern Lao

Given that each episode is represented by only a few minutes of clips, perhaps this year in review episode can be motivation to go back and listen to each episode all over again.

RFA Insider will be back in 2025 with new episodes on our regular schedule.

Until then, Happy New Year
