23 Johannesburg suburbs to be affected by a power outage
A planned power outage in Johannesburg will affect more than 20 suburbs due to City Power’s maintenance on their electricity network.
A planned power outage will affect 23 suburbs in Johannesburg.
According to City Power Johannesburg, the power outage will occur on Sunday, 15 March 2026, from 8:00 to 16:00.
The power outage is due to maintenance work that is regularly done on the utility’s electricity network.
SUBURBS AFFECTED BY POWER OUTAGE
City Power urged all suburbs affected by the power outage to treat their electricity supply points as live, as the power may be restored at any time.

- Rosettenville Road
- Wall Street
- Eloff Street

- Amsterdam Avenue
- Selby
- New Centre
- John Street

- Sprinz Avenue

CITY POWER GENERATES 140 MILLION IN REVENUE
City Power Johannesburg has generated an additional R140 million in revenue within two weeks.
The power utility surpassed the R1 billion milestone, causing its Financial Sustainability Programme to reach R1.14 billion in total.
The programme aims to stabilise City Power’s finances and reduce technical and non-technical losses.
Additionally, the programme’s goal is to restore historical billing gaps that have accumulated over the years.
City Power CEO Tshifularo Mashava said that the utility’s progress affirms that the interventions under the Gross Margin Turnaround Project are showing tangible results.
“Recovering lost revenue and correcting historical billing discrepancies are critical steps in restoring the financial stability of the utility,” said Mashava.
City Power mentioned that they are now focusing on achieving the R2.9 billion revenue target by the end of the year.
