An 11-year-old cyclist was seriously injured after being hit by bus
Paramedics said an 11-year-old cyclist was seriously injured on Saturday afternoon after being hit by a bus in Durban.
An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured when a bus hit him while he was riding his bicycle in Durban on Saturday.
THE INJURED BOY WAS RUSHED TO A NEARBY A HOSPITAL
Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said paramedics responded to the accident just before 14h00 on Saturday.
“Paramedics responded to the scene near Essenwood Road just before 14h00, on Saturday, and found the boy lying in the roadway.”
He said further assessment revealed that the boy had suffered a serious head injury.
“Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise him, before he was transported rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.”
Van Reenen said local authorities were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigations accordingly.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a truck on the N1 on Saturday afternoon.
Van Reenen said paramedics responded to the scene on the northbound carriageway near the R21 and found the man, believed to be approximately thirty years of age, lying in the roadway.
“Assessment revealed him to present no signs of life, and he was declared dead on arrival.”
He furthermore said the accident will be investigated by local authorities.
