The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle revealed that she felt like a “bimbo” during her 2006 job as a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal – she revealed on the latest episode of her Spotify podcast Archetypes on Tuesday 18 October.
MEGHAN MARKLE FELT LIKE A ‘BIMBO’ ON ‘DEAL OR NO DEAL’
On the latest episode of Archetypes, Meghan Markle revealed that she was grateful to have a job – where she was a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal. However, she quit the show because she felt like she was being objectified.
Paris Hilton was a guest on this episode of Archetypes titled Breaking Down The Bimbo With Paris Hilton.
“I ended up quitting the show. I was so much more than what was being objectified on the stage,” she said.
She explained that she did not like being all looks and little substance. So, she felt like she was reduced to being a “bimbo”.
“I didn’t like feeling forced to be all looks and little substance, and that’s how it felt for me at the time being reduced to this specific archetype: the word ‘bimbo,” she continued.
“I was grateful for the job, but not about how it made me feel, which was not smart. By the way I was surrounded by smart women … but that wasn’t the focus,” she added.

THE DUCHESS AND PARIS TACKLE LABELS ‘BIMBO’ AND ‘DUMB BLONDE’
Meghan and Paris broke down the labels of “Bimbo” and “Dumb Blonde” on the episode. The pair explored why brains and beauty in women have been historically pitted against each other.
Paris revealed that she built her “barbie doll” persona as a way to escape her traumatic years at Utah Boarding School.
“And in there, I started kind of building this fantasy Life and this kind of Barbie doll character. I guess, just to not think about pain and just to think about, oh, unicorns and butterflies and Barbie dolls and pink and sparkles,” she said.
The heiress also revealed that the producers of her reality The Simple Life wanted her to be the “dumb blonde”.
“The producers just said we want Nicole to be the troublemaker and Paris, we want you to be the rich dumb blonde and that’s when I started like really playing into that character,” she continued.
“During that time it was encouraged to be dumb and bubbly. I look at it now and I’m like, I think it’s so much cooler to be smart and intelligent, but back then it was almost like they wanted,” she added.
