‘Archetypes’: Meghan Markle’s podcast reportedly put on hold
Meghan Markle has paused new episodes of her podcast 'Archetypes' as she mourns the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has paused the release of new episodes of her podcast Archetypes following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8 September.
MEGHAN PAUSES SPOTIFY PODCAST
Harper Bazaar reported that Meghan Markle has paused new episodes of her spotify podcasts Archetypes. This comes after the death of her husband Prince Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, announced on Thursday 8 September.
The podcast is on pause due to the official mourning period of the Queen.
“New episodes of Archetypes will be paused during the official mourning period for Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II,” reads a message on the streaming platform.
Archetypes officially launched on 23 August with tennis star Serena Williams as the first guest. The second episode starred iconic pop artist Mariah Carey and the third episode starred actress Mindy Kaling.

THE OFFICIAL MOURNING PERIOD
Following the death of the Queen, her eldest son Charles became King. He is not known as King Charles III.
King Charles III declared a royal period of mourning after the Queen’s death. The mourning period lasts seven days after the Queen’s funeral and observed by,
- Members of the royal family
- Royal household staff
- Representatives of the royal household on official duties
- Troops committed to ceremonial duties
The King honoured his late mother in his first official public address as sovereign
“Queen Elizabeth was a life well lived; a promise with destiny kept and she is mourned most deeply in her passing. That promise of lifelong service I renew to you all today. Alongside the personal grief that all my family are feeling,” he said.
“We also share with so many of you in the United Kingdom, in all the countries where The Queen was Head of State, in the Commonwealth and across the world. A deep sense of gratitude for the more than seventy years in which my Mother, as Queen, served the people of so many nations,” he continued.
