Pakistan Shaheens defeated UAE by 74 runs in a virtual quarter-final of the ACC Emerging Team T20 Asia Cup on Wednesday to advance to the semi-finals. Mohammad Haris and co. dismissed UAE for 65 runs in 16.3 overs. Haris, leading his team, scored 71 off 49 runs to assist them reach 180 runs against UAE.

Haris, who dropped down the batting order after two opener failures, hit six boundaries and three maximums and stayed in the game. After Shaheens batted first, Omair Bin Yousuf and Yasir Khan opened the innings. Omair was unlucky to be run out after scoring 21 runs in the first innings. In came Haris, who joined Yasir at the crease and gave his captain confidence by hitting two out of the park.

Leggie Muhammad Farooq brilliantly bowled to Yasir, who tried to play spin but failed to clear the long-on boundary. Shaheens’ captain unleashed his usual flamboyance on the opposition bowlers. Qasim Akram, who captained Shaheens against Oman, scored 23 runs.
