Avoid Muizenberg beachfront this Easter weekend – here’s why

Construction underway at Muizenberg beachfront

If you’re planning a beach trip over the Easter weekend, you might want to scratch Muizenberg off your list, as the City of Cape Town has ramped up construction at the Muizenberg beachfront, closing off even more parking areas as part of a long-term upgrade project.

As of 19 March, the parking lot in front of the Muizenberg Civic Centre is officially closed and will remain so until mid-2025.

This comes after of the earlier closure of the informal parking next to the railway line at Surfer’s Corner. With both these areas out of commission, parking is going to be a major headache – especially during the busy Easter weekend.

Even though roads remain open, the City has also warned that traffic flow will be impacted, and parking near the beachfront will be tough to come by.

Bottom line: if you’re after a relaxing beach day with easy access, Muizenberg isn’t the spot this Easter!

Have you been to Muizenberg beach recently and seen the upgrades in progress?
