After Hugo Broos named his squad for the Panama friendlies, fans and pundits had plenty to say. But former Orlando Pirates midfielder Clifford Ngobeni has taken a different approach.
Instead of questioning the coach, he believes it’s time to support him.

“You know, I’m not a person that would go against the coach and stuff,” Ngobeni said. pointing out that decisions are not made randomly, there is work behind the scenes.
“But he’s made his decision, he’s been going around the country watching players and stuff like that, and he knows what he wants from the players and the team.”

EXPERIENCE SHAPES HIS VIEW
Ngobeni understands how difficult selection can be, especially at national level. “So, I wouldn’t say he’s wrong or right, but we just have to support him. Especially as an ex-professional player, I cannot say he’s wrong. I have to support his decisions.”
Bafana Bafana drew 1-1 with Panama at Moses Mabhida Stadium, a result that kept the conversation going.
NEXT TEST FOR BAFANA BAFANA
The two sides will meet again in Cape Town at DHL Stadium on Tuesday, giving Broos another chance to test his squad. For Ngobeni, though, the focus should not shift. Support first, criticism later.
