Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed what he hopes to see as Kermit Erasmus heads back to Pirates on a two-year deal.

Bafana coach weighs in on key factor in Erasmus’ Pirates move

In a largely unexpected announcement to end the week last Friday, Pirates confirmed the recruitment of Kermit Erasmus on a two-year deal. Romeo, as he is affectionately known, returns to the club having left to join French outfit Stade Rennais back in 2016.

Pirates stated that the experienced forward joins the Buccaneers having recently been “cleared by his former employer”, and becomes the sixth senior signing of the season.

The move caught many by surprise, but it’s hoped that it could be just what Erasmus needs to revitalise his ambitions for a Bafana recall.

“For me, the most important thing is that he plays,” Broos told reporters when asked about Erasmus’ transfer, as quoted by iDiski Times. “This is the most important. I have no problem that someone from Sundowns goes to Pirates or from Pirates goes to SuperSport, or whatever. This is not important for me.

“But when he changed, I hope he’ll play. That’s the most important thing. Again, I can’t do anything about that. If he changed and he doesn’t play that’s worse for the player himself and maybe I will be on some on some occasions in trouble because my players don’t play, the I have to look for something else again. But what can I do? I just see and I look and I hope that it doesn’t happen too much.”

Meanwhile, a statement described another new recruit, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, as a player “blessed with superb technical ability, creativity, an incisive range of passing and a willingness to work hard for his team, Ndlondo has shown to be adept in both in attack and defensive situations”.

Moments after putting pen to paper, Ndlondlo told Orlandopiratesfc.com: “I am happy to be here. This is a dream come true for me.

“With the window closing today, I didn’t think a move would happen, but football is an unpredictable game anything is possible. Here I am today speaking to you as an Orlando Pirates player.

“I would like to express my gratitude to everybody at Marumo Gallants. To the players, coaches, and management, thank you for a wonderful couple of years…and to the fans, you will always have a place in my heart.

“As I said before, it’s a dream to be here and I look forward to joining up with my new teammates. I come here looking to make a meaningful contribution to this great institution,” he concluded.
