‘I DON’T LOOK AT THE PRICE ANYMORE’

The woman with the handle @YamLove_ says she doesn’t even look at the price anymore when she buys a loaf of cauliflower and spinach bread for R87.95 at a company In The Pink because it’s the only bread she can eat. After all, she’s gluten intolerant.

She added that the gluten-free bread has to last her at least two weeks because it’s so pricey.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, gluten intolerance is when you get sick after eating gluten. You might feel bloated, gassy, or tired. Gluten is a protein found in many foods, especially wheat. Gluten intolerance is also called non-celiac gluten sensitivity. It’s not the same as celiac disease or a wheat allergy.

The website adds that anyone can have a gluten intolerance, though it’s more common in women. Some people are born with a gluten intolerance; others develop it later in life.

REACTIONS FROM TWEEPS: R87.95 FOR BREAD

Tweeps suggested she bakes her bread or stop eating bread because it’s too pricey.

@KayMarule: “Have you tried making it at home? That might help cut the costs.”

@The_mambz: “At that price? It would be cheaper to hand it yourself.”

@tembobrighton12: ”People who eat this bread got health issues.”

@JB55708261: “I’m curious. There’s no other reasonable bread or you that’s the only bread you eat?”
