A blue light gang was arrested by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) after following their instinct earlier today, Friday, 2 September.

THREE MEN BELONGING TO THE BLUE LIGHT GANG NABBED

Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the spokesperson for EMPD said the police noticed a suspicious vehicle parked under the bridge on the R21 North.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the registration plate fitted did not match the vehicle the blue light gang was in.

“More investigation led to more discoveries,” said Thepa.

EMPD DISCOVERS SHOCKING RECOVERIES

She added that two combat pants, three reflective jackets and two police boots were uncovered.

She also revealed that all three suspects are not in the employment of any of the law enforcement agencies and the uniform to be in their possession could not be accounted for.

“A removable dashboard blue light was found inside the car.”

POLICE UNIFORM POSSESSION TO BE PROBED

An investigation is currently underway in establishing how the suspects were in possession of police uniform and the dashboard blue light.

“The Municipal Commissioner has tasked members of the unit to uncover how suspects are able to access police uniform and accessories, which are used in the commissioning of crime within the city.”

The suspects are charged with possession of police inventory with the intent to commit an offence(s) and operating a motor vehicle with false registration plates,” Thepa detailed.

The blue light gang will be due in court soon.
