Bombshell doccie: Did Pistorius text ex, brother ‘delete’ evidence?
Did Oscar Pistorius's brother Carl 'tamper' with evidence at the crime scene of Reeva Steenkamp's murder? These experts think so...
Two independent authors have revisited bombshell allegations that Oscar Pistorius knowingly shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in the early hours of 14 February 2013.
Barry Bateman and Calvin Mollett shared their opinions in the final instalment of the hard-hitting M-Net documentary My Name Is Reeva on Thursday night.
Did Oscar Pistorius text his ex-girlfriend?
In their interviews, both Bateman and Mollet shot down Oscar Pistorius’s version of events made in his sworn testimony during his high-profile murder trial between 2014 to 2015.
According to Bateman – who co-authored the book Behind The Door – the six-time Paralympian had been allegedly communicating with an ex-girlfriend moments before pulling the trigger on his girlfriend.
Mollett – who wrote the book Oscar vs The Truth – alleges that there was a violent altercation between the pair, which culminated in Reeva being shot and killed.
Pistorius maintains he mistook Reeva for an armed burglar in his Pretoria home. He is currently serving a 13-year-and-five-month murder sentence at a Gqeberha prison in the Eastern Cape.

OSCAR PISTORIUS TEXTS TO EX ‘BABYSHOES’
Barry Bateman previously alleged in his book that Pistorius had made a nine-minute phone call to an ex-girlfriend – Jenna Edkins – shortly before killing Reeva Steenkamp.
Bateman claims that Pistorius saved Edkins’s number on his cellphone as “Babyshoes”. He also alleges that Pistorius was dating Reeva, while he was actually still seeing Edkins and another woman
According to Bateman’s account in the documentary, the call log was never used as evidence in the trial. According to The Mirror, this information was also not questioned by investigating officers. Edkins was asked to provide an official statement.
Bateman also insinuates in the documentary that Pistorius and Edkins possibly texted each other before an alleged argument with Reeva.
He said: “It might well have been that Edkins was messaging Oscar that night, but unfortunately that evidence has been deleted”.
Mollet claims in the documentary that he believes an argument – during which Pistorius tore a vest off Reeva’s back – led to the latter locking herself in their toilet.

DID BROTHER CARL CONCEAL EVIDENCE?
According to Bateman, Oscar Pistorius’s brother Carl was allegedly involved with the “tampering of evidence”. The author claims that the older sibling removed Pistorius’s private cellphone from the crime scene
He said: “Oscar had two devices. He had a device for work calls and private calls. The device that was seized from the scene, was his work phone. It emerged that his private phone was removed from the crime scene, and was ultimately found to be removed by his brother Carl.
“Not just removed, but tampered with as well. That phone was taken and synchronised with a laptop…and the username that was used was ‘Titanium Hulk’, that happens to be the nickname that Carl Pistorius goes by”.
Bateman continued: “When that phone was synchonrised, significant parts of it was deleted. Call history, messages… messages sent after the shooting while Oscar was actually in jail.
“It was only handed to the police 12 days after the fact. But because there had been this tampering and re-synchonrisation, the police didn’t have access to it.”

According to Bateman, police had “every intention of prosecuting” Carl Pistorius for “defeating the ends of justice” for tampering with “potentially crucial evidence”.
“But it was never presented in court, he was never arrested and the public never heard about it,” he added.
Bateman claims there was an agreement between the state and the defence that the former would not act on Carl’s involvement. This was reportedly in exchange for the “defence making certain admissions to the court” based on “other cellphones that were seized”.

WHO IS JENNA EDKINS?
According to posts on her official Twitter account, Jenna — a banker — dated Pistorius for five years. The pair reportedly broke up years before the Paralympian started dating Reeva in November 2012.
Jenna was present during Pistorius’s murder trial and sat among family and friends.
She also defended him in a series of tweets posted the day after Reeva’s murder took place. Take a look:
“People must stop jumping on the bandwagon with such hurtful allegations. Os [Oscar Pistorius] is the loving, amazing inspirational person we know him to be”
“You have all my family’s love and support #loveandsupportoscar”
“All I am saying is let him speak, let his side be heard without jumping to conclusions. Love and thoughts to Reeva’s family”
“I would just like to say, I have dated Oscar on off for 5 YEARS, NOT ONCE has he EVER lifted a finger to me, made me fear for my life”
