Banyana Banyana were handed a nightmare draw on Saturday for the Women’s Soccer World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The South African women’s team were drawn in Group G alongside Sweden, Italy and Argentina.

According to the latest FIFA rankings, Sweden are No 2 in the world, Italy are 14th and Argentina 29th.

Banyana Banyana are down in 54th.

The 32-team tournament will take place next year between 20 July and 20 August.

Group A: New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Switzerland

Group B: Australia, Ireland, Nigeria, Canada

Group D: England, Group B playoff winner (Senegal, Haiti or Chile), Denmark, China

Group E: United States, Vietnam, Netherlands, Group A playoff winner (Portugal, Cameroon or Thailand)

Group F: France, Jamaica, Brazil, Group C playoff winner (Taiwan, Paraguay, Papua New Guinea, Panama)

Group G: Sweden, South Africa, Italy, Argentina

Group H: Germany, Morocco, Colombia, South Korea
