Orlando Pirates are through to the second round of the CAF Champions League following their 4-0 win over Disciples on Friday evening at the Orlando Stadium.

Having played to a goalless draw in the first leg in Mauritius, the Buccaneers started Friday’s match like a house on fire. The home team’s early pressure paid off as Tshegofatso opened the scoring in the ninth minute.

Orlando Pirates into the next CAF round

Pirates kept pushing for a second and were eventually rewarded in the 24th minute, Relebohile Mofokeng finished well following a neat interplay with Patrick Maswanganyi. From provider, Tito turned into a goal scorer when he curled a long-range shot to make it 3-0.

From then on, Orlando Pirates’ passage into the CAF CL second preliminary round was secured. Despite several opportunities to extend their lead, the Sea Robbers only managed three goals in the first half.

In the second half, the Buccaneers saw much of the ball but failed to take their chances. The home side found the back several times but all the goals were ruled offside. Eventually, their fourth goal came in the dying minute through Karim Kimvuidi who chipped the keeper.

Orlando Pirates will now play in the CAF CL second preliminary stage against the winner between Jwaneng Galaxy and African Stars.
