Can’t afford solar power? You can now apply for financing

The high stages of loadshedding have left many hopeless, but one can get solar power by applying for finance, just like with a car.

Can’t afford solar power? You can now apply for financing

South Africans are trying to find alternatives to power supply since the implementation of the high loadshedding stages. But those who have considered ditching Eskom for solar power but cannot afford it now have a better option – financing.

HOMEOWNERS CAN FIND LIGHT THROUGH THE BLACKOUTS

The power utility will remain at high stages of loadshedding this week, meaning many will be left without power for four hours at a time, two to three times a day.

The ongoing power cuts have left businesses and homeowners frustrated.

But there is an alternative to bring light to those going through the annoying blackouts. This is through a new innovative asset-based solar finance product, released by Nedbank’s MFC Division this month.

The good news is that this can be applied by anyone, even those who do not bank or have a bond with Nedbank.

Homeowners can receive an affordable and flexible finance option for solar panels.

This means homeowners can buy solar power systems just like getting finance for a car through Nedbank’s vehicle financing division, BusinessTech reports.

“MFC, a division of Nedbank and Hohm Energy, have partnered to offer an industry-leading client solution, providing you with a custom proposal in minutes and access to our marketplace of trusted, professional solar installers.”

HOW THE SOLAR FINANCING OPTION WORKS

Over the next 12 months, Nedbank and Hohm Energy will provide over 3 000 solar loans and installations.

This is a method by Hohm Energy to provide a convenient and online experience that matches homeowners with vetted installers in their area.

This service is available across all nine provinces as the company expands to meet demand. Solar installers are also welcome to become Hohm Energy accredited.

Those who need solar power will no longer need to shop around while vetting such installers. This is because the financing process is easily managed by Hohm’s Energy Advisor model. This model ensures trusted advice is given at each step.

The initiative provides all the background checks to accredited solar installers and then sources them to access the Nedbank MFC finance product.
