Cape Town City have officially completed the signing of Lyle Lakay on a season-long loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Lakay put pen to paper with City on transfer deadline day on Thursday after successfully undergoing his medicals on Wednesday.

He is expected to take over from Terrence Mashego who left City for Sundowns in a fee reported to be in the region of R10 million.

Cape Town City took to their social media platforms on the day to unveil Lakay who rejoins the club four years after leaving them.

Lakay’s future at Sundowns had been hanging in the balance since the club’s interest in Mashego was confirmed.

Ironically, the 31-year-old had joined Sundowns from City in 2018, and this was on the back of the 12 months he spent with them following his arrival from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2017.

Lakay leaves Sundowns as a legend having won every trophy on offer with them, including four league titles, the Telkom Knockout Cup, Nedbank Cup and the MTN8 Cup.

Lakay has been handed the No.24 jersey at Cape Town City, the club confirmed with a picture.
