Chiefs have ‘more than enough’ to beat Pirates, says Amakhosi legend

Kaizer Chiefs legend Stanton “Stiga” Fredericks has backed his former team to beat Orlando Pirates this weekend.

The Buccaneers and Amakhosi lock horns at the FNB Stadium this Saturday in a Betway Premiership clash.

Coming into the match, the Pirates are slight favourites, but Chiefs have proved they can match them, having done so in the Nedbank Cup final, where they won 2-1.

Speaking on SuperSport TV, Stiga felt that the Buccaneers‘ attack could be their downfall with their strikers failing to fire.

“The problem that Orlando Pirates has is…are you going to rely on Mbuthuma to lead the line? I don’t think he has scored more than five goals in the Premier League. He is the player who is quickly improving. I love his improvement in the last six months for Pirates,” the Kaizer Chiefs legend said.

“Makgopa, I think he is injured. Will he lead the line? Why did Mabasa leave? This is when you tap into your depth,” Stiga said.

Chiefs tipped to beat Pirates on Saturday

Fredericks predicted Chiefs to win if they play their normal game. The Glamour Boys have lost just two league matches this season and a win on Saturday could put them back into the title picture.

“Come Saturday, Chiefs have more than enough to beat Orlando Pirates, it’s only the consistency that is in question,” said the ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder.

Many fans feel Saturday’s derby could turn the title on its head, given both teams are in contention.

Who will win the derby?
