Cool, cloudy day ahead for Gauteng after freezing night

Gauteng faced a biting cold on Tuesday night, with temperatures in Johannesburg and Pretoria dropping to around 9°C.

“We are seeing freezing conditions in parts of the country, and Gauteng has also been affected,” said Mpho Rasimphi, a forecaster.

Mild daytime conditions after freezing nights

Wednesday’s weather will relieve the overnight chill. Pretoria will reach a high of 22°C, while Johannesburg will warm to around 21°C.

“Despite the cold start, daytime conditions will be relatively pleasant under cloudy skies,” Rasimphi noted.

The forecaster added that residents in the northern parts of the province, including areas close to Limpopo, could see slightly warmer conditions, but the cloud cover will persist.

Week Outlook

In the coming days, warmer weather will sweep across Gauteng, with isolated showers possible in the country’s central parts.

“We expect Friday to be a warmer day overall, but with a chance of showers moving into some regions,” Rasimphi said.
