Corruption Scandal Hits Cricket Canada: CEO Salman Accused

According to reports, Cricket Canada CEO Salman Khan was charged with theft and fraud during his time as C&DCL president from 2014 to 2016.

Calgary Police stated that two persons stole $200,000 from the league during this time. Authorities say firms were paid to repair and upgrade league infrastructure. However, the work was incomplete or used subpar materials at exorbitant prices.

“The Calgary Police Service investigated and found that the former treasurer and president of the C&DCL misappropriated approximately $200,000 from the league between January 2014 and December 2016.”

Cheques were written to construction companies and contractors the former treasurer and president or their relatives owned, misappropriating the cash “it added.

“We are gathering all relevant information and talking with legal and governance professionals to decide the next steps,” it said.

Salman Khan, who became CEO in January, denies the allegations.

He replied on the Alberta Cricket Association’s social media account claiming he had been accused seven years before.
