US singer Doja Cat is one of 'Sarafina!' actor Dumisani Dlamini's many children - Who are her South African half-siblings?

Dumisani Dlamini children: A look at Doja Cat’s siblings

Dumisani Dlamini’s claims that he is not a “deadbeat dad” to his daughter, Doja Cat – real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini – or any of his children, has sparked speculation about his family life.

In a bombshell social media post over the weekend, the South African actor also bashed his US baby mama, Deborah Sawyer, whom he accused of “brainwashing” his superstar child.

Doja was born in 1995 in the US to Dumisani and Deborah, who met after the former’s Sarafina! Broadway tour. He fathered another child, son Raman Dalithando Dlamini, whilst living in America, before returning to SA.

DUMISANI DLAMINI’S CHILDREN, BABY MAMAS

Whilst Doja Cat and her brother Raman are Dumisani Dlamini’s well- known children, the South African actor has previously spoken about having others.

In fact, the Yizo Yizo and Sarafina! star claimed he fathered a child as a teen boy. In a 2017 interview, he claimed he had seven children and three grandchildren.  He has never disclosed the identities of his baby mamas.

He told the Sunday Times: “I am close to my kids, all of them. I love them and they love me”.

In 2023, Sunday World revealed Dumisani had wed his new bride, Ophelia Mulela. The publication linked him to former girlfriends, chartered accountant Girlie Nhlengethwa and Sarafina! co-star Nandi Ndlovu, who later wed composer Lebo M.

That same year, he said of his daughter Doja’s success: “I’m so proud of her for what she has achieved. I’m not surprised, because it’s in the blood. In fact, all my kids are very talented. I think South Africa as a whole should be proud of such great talent coming from us.”

DOJA-CAT’S HALF SIBLINGS

Apart from her paternal half-siblings, Doja Cat also has three other maternal half-siblings.

In his since-deleted Instagram post, Dumisani Dlamini revealed that he met Doja’s mother, Deborah Sawyer, when she had three children from a previous relationship.

At the time, he had wrapped up his Broadway production and decided to stay on in the US to start a family with Deborah.

He said in the clip: “You can’t be in a foreign country and find a woman, a white woman with three kids. And then you make two kids with her. And then she becomes so lucky that she gives birth to a superstar.

“I’m not going to be used by a white woman with three kids. I was feeding those kids with the money from Sarafina. I love my kids [and] I took care of her kids. Three white kids who hated me”.
