Former head coach of Pakistan Mickey Arthur has expressed grave worries about the continuous unrest in Pakistan cricket, attributing it as a main element compromising the team’s performance.

In a recent interview with a local sports station, Arthur discussed the difficulties the club faces and underlined the bad effects of erratic administration and leadership.

“Factually, it is I absolutely think that this volatility pushes things down. Any company has instability; it is not perfect; an unstable environment does not generate great performance, Arthur stated.

Expressing his astonishment at the unexpected events, Arthur also spoke on the recent resignations of Tim Nielsen, Gary Kirsten, and Jason Gillespie.

“Having discussed coaching Pakistan with them, I felt somewhat let down. They had all contacted me, and I assured them it’s an exciting experience—you’d love it, provided you commit fully and do your work well. The players are exceptional, and from the great range of quality available, one can pick.

“So sure, I felt really let down. Things changing so rapidly astounded me. I won’t delve into the specifics of what transpired, but at that time Pakistan had some really, quite outstanding instructors. Those folks are really outstanding professionals, he said.

It is relevant to note that lately the Pakistan cricket team has had several major coaching changes.

Former bowler Aqib Javed was hired as the temporary head coach after Kirsten and Gillespie left; today, Mike Hesson has been named as the white-ball head coach of the national white-ball side.

First assigned to Hesson is the forthcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, set for May 28–June 1 in Lahore.

Former domestic cricket player Arthur also offered his opinions on top performers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. He underlined how vital Babar is in the playing eleven.

“That’s an intriguing one. Babar Azam would always be a member of the squad. He plays quite brilliantly, in my opinion. I’m not sure what has occurred over the past few years, but the Babar I know is absolutely class.

Regarding Rizwan, Arthur hailed his adaptability and wicketkeeping skill.

“Rizwan has a function if he is your best wicketkeeper. His game may be modified to suit anywhere the team requires him. It’s about maximising his skills, Arthur said.

When he thought back on his own time spent in Pakistan, the 57-year-old felt upset and called it a life-changing event.
