Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has questioned the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), saying they should not hesitate in running a full-fledged series of 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is against Pakistan should the Indian cricket squad be as strong as claimed.
Mushtaq thinks a series like this would offer a clear resolution to the argument on whether team is better. “If we keep politics aside, their players are very good and they have been playing good cricket,” remarked Saqlain.
“Let us play ten Tests, ten ODIs, ten T20Is against Pakistan if you are indeed a strong squad. That would sort everything,” he said.
His comments line up with India’s six-wicket triumph over Pakistan in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
The one-sided encounter sparked debates among supporters, many of whom believe that the India-Pakistan rivalry is overblown since Pakistan has failed to provide a genuine challenge against India’s highly regarded lineup.
Mushtaq underlined that if the team concentrates on appropriate preparation, Pakistan might develop into a very powerful force.
“If we get our preparation right and set things in the right direction, we will be in a position to give solid answers to the world and India also,” he said.
It is crucial to note that continuous political unrest has caused the two adjacent countries to encounter each other just in ICC events. From the 2012–13 season, they have not participated in a bilateral series.
For the uninitiated, Pakistan had a dismal ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, failing to win a single game and leaving the group stage empty-handed even as the host country.
They lost against New Zealand and India, and Rawalpindi’s rain caused their last group-stage game against Bangladesh to be called off.
With just one point from three games, Pakistan thereby came last in Group A. Before surrendering to India by six wickets, Mohammad Rizwan and his team fell to New Zealand by sixty runs, therefore ensuring their early tournament exit.
