Emergency teams are searching for people trapped under the rubble of a four-storey temple that collapsed at River Range Ranch in Redcliffe, KZN, on Friday.

Reaction Unit South Africa received a call for help at 11:56 after a member of the public witnessed the structure give way.

Reaction Officers and RUSA paramedics reached the site and found eight construction workers outside the collapsed building.

They suffered mild to moderate injuries.

More people are believed to be trapped under the temple

Several individuals remain trapped beneath the debris.

Their condition remains unknown as rescue teams continue to assess the situation. Survivors have been sending voice notes from beneath the rubble.

RUSA officers requested support from Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services and contacted multiple specialised search and rescue organisations. All have responded.

Coordinated Plan Being Developed

Structural engineers are en route to the scene, and teams are finalising a coordinated rescue plan.

RUSA has called on any available medical or rescue teams to join the operation immediately.
