According to Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, a white Volkswagen Polo carrying five occupants reportedly struck the cyclists while they were riding along the roadway.
The impact caused the vehicle to overturn.
Serious injuries
According to the SABC, the two cyclists were declared dead at the scene, while the occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital for medical treatment.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
