Former Zimbabwean first lady Grace Mugabe is said to be distressed following the arrest of her son in Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon.

According to SABC News Specialist Correspondent Sophie Mokoena, sources close to the Mugabe family indicated that Grace Mugabe is “very angry” and concerned about her children’s conduct.

Charged with attempted murder

Mugabe’s son and another man were arrested after allegedly shooting a gardener in Hyde Park, north of Johannesburg.

The pair have since been charged with attempted murder.

The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A source with close ties to the family told SABC News that the former first lady has repeatedly urged her children to avoid trouble.

The same son previously appeared in court in Zimbabwe, and another of Mugabe’s sons was arrested last year in Zimbabwe on charges related to dagga.
