JOBURG BALLET TO STAGE ‘CINDERELLA’ LATER THIS MONTH

Joburg Ballet artistic director Iain MacDonald said Cinderella has always been one of the company’s most popular ballet shows. Cinderella was originally staged at the Joburg Theatre in 2016 and in 2018 at the Teatro at Montecasino.

The ballet dancers will be pirouetting across the stage to Austrian composer Johann Strauss’ smooth melodies.

“Johann Strauss composed some of the most enchanting and memorable classic music ever written and the music to which Cinderella is danced is no exception,” said MacDonald.

Esther Nasser, the Joburg Ballet’s CEO, will be the first production since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that seats 100% of the Joburg Theatre.

WHICH JOBURG BALLET DANCERS WILL BE ON STAGE?

Dancers Shannon Glover, Nicole Ferreira-Dill, Monike Cristina and Tammy Higgins will be playing the role of Cinderella while Revil Yoh, Armando Barros, Ruan Galdino and Ivan Domiciano will be playing the Prince.

Audiences can look forward to Christopher Montague and Nigel Hannah playing the roles of Cinderella’s Stepsisters. Both Christopher and Nigel were members of the PACT (Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal) in the 1980s and the 1990s.

The role of the Jester will be danced by Tumelo Lekana, Ivan Domiciano, Mario Gaglione and Luhle Mtati. The Fairy Godmother will be danced by Savannah Ireland, Nicole Ferreira-Dill and Darrah Hourrides.
