With this ninth season of the competition, the prise money has never been announced with such a high level. The T20 competition is giving 20 teams the field this time. They will play against one another over 28 days at nine US and Caribbean locations.

Geoff Allardice, Chief Executive of the ICC, said: “It is appropriate that the player price money reflects the historic nature of this event in so many ways. Players will enthral hundreds of millions of fans worldwide in what we hope will be an Out of This World spectacle.”

That many teams would be competing for the first time as well.

Losing semi-finalists will each receive $787,500, while the runners-up will receive at least $1.28 million.

Teams that do not advance past the second round will receive $382,500 each. Those who place ninth through twelfth will receive $247,500 each.

Thirteenth through twentieth place teams will each receive $225,000. Every team will also get an additional $31,154 for each victory—sans the semifinals and championship games.

After 40 matches in the first round of the competition, there will be Super 8s and semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. In Barbados, at the Kensington Oval, the men’s champions of 2024 will be announced during the final game.
