On Tuesday, Indian media claimed that the Indian blind cricket team withdrew from the T20 World Cup 2024 in Pakistan after its Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) rejected permission to enter the border.

Shailendra Yadav, General Secretary of the Indian Blind Cricket Association (IBCA), told an Indian media outlet that the Indian squad will not travel to Pakistan for the world event from November 23 to December 3. Yadav told the media outlet that the Sports Ministry gave the blind cricket team a no-objection certificate (NOC) but was waiting for government permission.

Recently, the MEA declined the blind team’s request to play in the world cup.

“We waited 25 days for government permission to visit Pakistan. Yadav said the event is starting soon, so we can’t wait.

“When I called the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), they told us we wouldn’t get permission to go to Pakistan and could cancel your tournament.

“They also told us we would receive an official denial letter. We haven’t received an official letter yet, but after talking to MEA, we’ve decided not to go to Pakistan or play in the Blind T20 World Cup.

He regretted the decision but said the cricket association would follow MEA orders. England, Australia, and New Zealand will not join us. Thus, India would become the fourth team to skip this competition, he said. The Blind T20 World Cup 2024 would go on despite India’s rejection.

“All other World Cup teams are visiting Pakistan. Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) chief Syed Sultan Shah said one team’s absence won’t hinder preparations.

According to sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has told the International Cricket Council (ICC) that it will not send its men’s squad to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy due to federal government orders.
