Inside Budapest’s banned Pride march
On June 28, almost 200,000 people flooded the streets of Budapest to celebrate Pride, braving a ban put in place by Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Despite the threat of fines, Hungarians marched to denounce the relentless repression of LGBTQ+ rights in the country and defend the right to freely assemble. People from all over Europe joined them in support.
