Jacob Zuma has taken pot-shots at Cyril Ramaphosa this week, while also naming his preferred candidate to lead the ANC.

Jacob Zuma reveals who he wants to REPLACE Cyril Ramaphosa

The Jacob Zuma/Cyril Ramaphosa beef is still going strong – largely thanks to utterances made by Msholozi. He has issued a statement this week, tackling a number of issues concerning the ANC. Mr. Zuma trashed his successor, before announcing who he’d like to lead the ruling party.

Jacob Zuma stirs the pot with ANC statement

There has been bad blood between the pair since Jacob Zuma was forced to resign by the ANC’s top brass in 2018. Cyril swooped in, and branded uBaba’s tenure as ‘nine wasted years’. Since then, they haven’t seen eye-to-eye, and there is no sign of a truce on the horizon.

The ANC is heading into its next National Conference later this year. As well as establishing firm policy commitments, a leadership election will take place. Cyril Ramaphosa is likely to retain his position. However, he will face some stiff competition along the way.

Who is Jacob Zuma supporting as the next ANC leader?

Zweli Mkhize has emerged as a wildcard, with some branches in KZN backing the scandal-hit former minister. But Jacob Zuma is going down a more tried and tested route. On Monday night, JZ revealed that he would be backing Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for ANC President.

“The candidate we supported in 2017 Dlamini-Zuma] remains the most competent to lead the ANC, given her track record in the movement, her leadership capabilities, and her understanding of the party. Comrades have dismally failed to present a better candidate.” | Jacob Zuma

Cyril Ramaphosa blasted for ‘dismal performance and greed’

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Jacob Zuma statement without an unsubtle swipe at Cyril Ramaphosa. Msholozi attacked the current head of state for his recent poor electoral performances, saying that ‘greed had got the better’ of him and his supporters. Eish!

“Comrades, we must not have short memories. In the past few years, some have been overwhelmed by money. They have been guided by greed, and not political conscience. This led to dismal performances and significant support drops in recent elections.” | Jacob Zuma
