Actor and director Kagiso Modupe, who starred alongside his daughter in his film Losing Lerato recently made headlines when he revealed in an interview with King David that he made his first million by using his private parts. The star, who’s popularly known for his role in Scandal! also revealed on his Instagram account in September that his second film Thando is nominated for five Hapawards (The Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards). The award-winning actor-director Kagiso Modupe, who is reportedly also directing e.tv’s fashion drama House of Zwide also revealed in his interview with King David that he’s about to start shooting a second installment of Losing Lerato and that his 2022 film Thando is nominated for Best Motion Picture Film (AFRICA) at this years Hapawards.
The producer was beaming with pride when his first film Losing Lerato grossed R4.1 million in the first five weeks.
“I remember a time when we were told we probably won’t last even a week in cinemas and probably won’t even make R200 000 because we are independent and weren’t funded by anybody,” according to IOL.
Losing Lerato performed so well in some cinemas that it overtook international films such as J.Lo’s Hustlers and Fast and the Furious.
Modupe said that he was even more proud of the success of the film because other films were opened to 65 cinemas, while he was limited to only 39 cinemas because they are independent and were not seen as credible producers.
“Imagine if we had opened all 65 cinemas? We would be sitting on R8m now,” he adds.

THE ACTOR’S NET WORTH
The actor also revealed in his 2016 interview with ActorSpaces that he began hustling when he was a student at the University of Johannesburg.
Modupe used to sell insurance on the streets to finance his registration fee. He also used to make money through Stokvel parties by selling alcohol through his window at his place in Brixton. The parties grew tremendously and they use to shut down the streets.
According to TVSA, the former Scandal! actor has appeared TV show such as Harvest, Hearlines, Home Affairs, The Throne, Ambitions, Nqobile, The Republic, Vula Vala etc. and also published his first book in 2017 titled Along Came Tsakani.
