WHAT IS ‘KOKKEDOOR’?

Kokkedoor is one of the few Afrikaans cooking shows available on South African television. In its upcoming season, Kokkedoor Vuur & Vlan, the show will take contestants outside of the kitchen and as they prepare delicious meals over the coals.

Similar to the previous seasons, Kokkedoor places the emphasis on recipes for the competition-worthy dishes on the show. The teams on the show consist of two people, a professional chef or trained cook and a food “enthusiast” or home cook who is passionate about grilling over the braai.

In 2019, Chef Nic van Wyk, a judge on Kokkedoor, said cooking South African food excites him because of its simplicity and unique flavours.

“Cooking these meals and sharing our culture with others is how we show our hospitality,” said van Wyk.

  • An introduction
  • Where you live
