LIVE: Jacob Zuma’s MK party passes Julius Malema’s EFF for THIRD place

As votes continue to be counted around the country, the ruling African National Congress’ (ANC) support has declined compared to its 2019 results – while the EFF has been overtaken by the MK party.

In terms of the overall picture at 19:30 on Thursday, 7 658 of 23 293 voting districts have completed counting (32.88%) with a total of 4 188 517 votes counted.

The ANC leads the way with 1 743 741 votes (42.19%), followed by the DA (1 028 255 votes for 24.88%) with the MK party now in third (378 990 votes at 9.17%).

The EFF has slipped to fourth place with 396 036 votes (9.1%).

As a reminder, in the 2019 elections the ANC finished with 57.5% of the total vote.
