Load REDUCTION on SATURDAY evening – Find schedules here

Eskom has announced it will be implementing load reduction in six provinces on Saturday, 3 September 2022.

Load reduction is slightly different from load shedding – it is used to reduce the increasing demand for electricity that is supplied to members of the public. This is usually in neighbourhoods where illegal connections cause overload and damage infrastructure. Load reduction is meant to protect the infrastructure.

“Overloading also poses danger to people and property in the affected communities. Currently, Eskom is battling to keep up with the increased equipment failure caused by overloading that is costing millions to repair,” the embattled power utility said.

The provinces that are affected are: Gauteng, Limpopo, North West, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and the Northern Cape.
