Market traders in Benin prepare for difficult transition as sprawling Dontokpa market faces closure
In Southern Benin, the hugely popular Dantokpa market, one of the largest open-air markets in the region, is facing closure. Since June, authorities have been encouraging traders to make the shift from Dantokpa to new and more modern markets that have opened across Cotonou, warning that the site is a fire hazard and security risk.
