Saim Ayub rose in the new ICC T20I Batting Rankings revealed on Wednesday, while skipper Mohammad Rizwan fell. The third T20I match against South Africa was abandoned in Johannesburg on 14 December due to heavy rain, and Pakistan lost 0-2 in the series.
Since becoming Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Mohammad Rizwan has lost two straight T20I series. Rizwan fell two positions to eighth with 704 rating points after his 13-ball 11 in the second T20I.
After a four-ball duck in the first T20I, Babar Azam struck 31 off 20 in the second and rose to sixth in the ICC T20I Batting Rankings. Except for Babar and Rizwan, Pakistan has no batter in the top 50, with Saim Ayub ranking third.
These wins followed the young batter’s undefeated 98 off 57 balls in the second T20I against South Africa. After their poor performance against South Africa, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi lost one spot to 21st and Haris Rauf three spots to 26th in the bowling rankings.
