‘New generation war’: Ukrainian 'geeks' turned guerrillas make frontline drones
A group of young Ukrainian 'geeks' make drones in the basement of a house near the Donbas frontline. A short distance from their base and less than two kilometres from the Russian lines, a navigator and a pilot prepare a drone to drop a bomb on Russian positions. The group's founder and leader, Zmiy ("Snake" in Ukrainian), is a bearded veteran of the 2014 conflict with Russia in the Donbas, eastern Ukraine. He says the group comprises about 40 men and women.
