New ICC Test rankings drop Babar Azam one spot

Babar Azam has dropped one spot in the ICC Test batting rankings, but Harry Brook has risen to a career-best third. England’s 241-run win over the West Indies in the second Test changed the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings. The match awarded 12 rating points to veteran Joe Root for his 32nd Test century. This performance took him closer to New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, who leads. Root is only seven points behind Williamson, and a great third Test in Birmingham might retake the top spot.

Harry Brook also improved, rising four ranks to a career-best third. He beat Babar Azam, Daryl Mitchell, Steve Smith, and Rohit Sharma with his second-innings century at Nottingham. Other England players also rose in the rankings. Ben Duckett rose six places to 16th and Ollie Pope eight places to 21st after excellent efforts. For the West Indies, Kraigg Brathwaite rose two ranks to 40th, Joshua Da Silva seven spots to 61st, and Kavem Hodge 21 spots to 75th.
