Thursday, 25 July

  • Blitzboks vs New Zealand (Kick-off 21:00)
  • Argentina vs France (Kick-off 21:30)
  • Fiji vs Ireland (Kick-off 22:00)
  • Australia vs USA (Kick-off 22:30)

These riveting encounters were decided after New Zealand finished top in Pool A, with Ireland as runners up; Australia topped Pool B with Argentina in second place; and Fiji (1st) pipped hosts France (2nd) in Pool C.

The USA (7th) and Blitzboks (2nd) snuck into the playoffs as the two best third-place finishers to complete Olympics quarter-final lineup at the Olympics.
