Orlando Pirates news: Shandu, Mabasa, Ndah, Dlamini
Orlando Pirates have struggled for goals in their past two matches with some supporters asking for Tshegofatso Mabasa's return.
Orlando Pirates will have to make big decisions by the end of the season as they look to trim down their squad.
The Buccaneers have signed close to 20 players this season as they look to win their first Betway Premiership in 14 years.
So far, they have bagged two trophies and are second on the log, but could return to the top if they beat Kaizer Chiefs this weekend.
How did Orlando Pirates January transfer go?
In January, the Buccaneers signed Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch as well and Daniel Msendami and Mpho Chabatsane from Marumo Gallants.
Outgoing players included Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who joined Chicago Fire, while Sinxolo Kwayiba returned to Chippa United.
Olisa Ndah and Tshegofatso Mabasa moved to Stellies, but the latter was signed on loan.
Ndah spent nearly two years on the sidelines and upon full recovery, he struggled to break into the Orlando Pirates team.
His agent, Mike Makaab, revealed that he signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Cape Winelands outfit.
“It’s a one-and-a-half-year contract. It’s the balance of the season, plus another 12 months,” Makaab told Soccer Laduma.
“We are very pleased. Gavin likes him as a player. We believe that it’s a great opportunity for him to rediscover his best form.
“Hopefully, he gets the requisite game time, but he has to work for it. It’s not going to be easy, and hopefully he stays injury-free, which we are confident of,” added the renowned agent.
Another Orlando Pirates player who could leave is Bandile Shandu. The 31-year-old experienced right-back has not featured much this season.
“Bandile Shandu is contracted to Orlando Pirates, and for us it is just to wait for the club to make a decision on the player. In this situation, they have the first preference,” Makaab told FARPost.
“We are open to any decision from Pirates, and should they opt against renewing the contract in the coming months, we’ll be left with no choice but to look for other options for Shandu,” he concluded.
Playmaker Kabelo Dlamini has also struggled for gametime under Ouaddou. He was rumoured to have signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs.
