Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule believes the players have, at least so far, let Jose Riveiro down by not turning their chances into goals.

The Buccaneers have not been scoring enough goals this season despite boasting some good attacking players. Pirates have scored just four goals in seven league games.

In addition, Pirates have failed to score in four of their seven league games so far, and winning all their three matches with a 1-0 scoreline.

And it is for that reason Pule believes the players are to blame as Riveiro has put in a lot of hardwork behind the team’s improvement.

Riveiro arrived before the start of the season as a relatively unknown coach, and Pule feels the players already understand his philosophy.

“He’s a hardworking coach. He really wants his players to work hard,” Pule told reporters on Monday.

“We really understand his tactics and ability to read the game. Unfortunately, we let him down by not finishing our chances.

“I think if we can finish off our chances, we would be talking a different story by now,” added Pule.

Pirates’ next game is on Saturday, 10 September against TS Galaxy at Orlando Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:30.
