Orlando Pirates to inflict double transfer blow on Kaizer Chiefs!
Look away Kaizer Chiefs fans! Orlando Pirates could wrap up the signing of two of your top targets in a double deal by the end of this week!
Orlando Pirates could be about to deal archrivals Kaizer Chiefs a huge transfer blow ahead of the January transfer window.
Both Pirates and Chiefs are believed to be shopping in a similar market ahead of the window as per reports.
Pirates and Chiefs competing for the same players
So far, Pirates have had a good start to the season, winning seven out of eight matches in the Betway Premiership. Their loss against Stellenbosch FC was just the second they have experienced in all competitions so far this campaign. They previously lost to Magesi FC who knocked them out of the Carling Knockout Cup en-route to winning it.
Now with that transfer window fast approaching, Chiefs and Pirates have been linked to the same five players. Oswin Appollis, Thabang Matuludi, Asanele Velebayi, and Lungelo Nguse. In the previous window, it was Amakhosi who were touted as favourites to sign these players over the Buccaneers. But the latest reports in recent weeks seem to point at a potential twist.
Yesterday this publication reported that Pirates were set to beat Chiefs to the signing of Appollis. It is believed that an agreement is close to being reached between the Buccaneers and Polokwane City. If that wasn’t already a big blow for Amakhosi, it is believed a doubled blow is on the cards.
Appollis and Matuludi choose Buccaneers over Amakhosi?
According to Unplayable, Pirates are in fact about to snatch two Chiefs targets in one go! This comes after news that a double deal including right back Matuludi is close to being finalized!
“????????????????????????????????????
Orlando Pirates are close to signing Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City.
#UNPLAYABLE can reveal that the deal could be concluded before the end of this week.” They store on their ‘X’.
Should Pirates sign both Appollis and Matuludi, it would hit like a dagger to the heart of Chiefs. Amakhosi are desperate to add more quality and experience to their first team. As it stands, they have a very young attack and Appollis would’ve been an upgrade with his international experience. Matuludi would’ve also pushed Reeve Frosler at right back.
On the Pirates side, they have a multitude of attackers and right-backs that both Appollis and Matuludi would compete with. Have the Polokwane duo made the right choice? Or should they have chosen Chiefs? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
