Pakistan announced their playing XI for the first 50-over match against Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. The Green Shirts are hoping to carry their recent red-ball form from the Test series win over England into the ODIs.
Mohammad Rizwan will captain Pakistan for the first time. The wicketkeeper-batter became white-ball captain last month after Babar Asam resigned.
The new captain hopes to start his tenure with a win over the Kangaroos. The second and third ODIs against Australia are set for November 8 (Adelaide Oval) and November 10 (Perth Stadium). A three-match T20I series from November 14-18 will follow.
After Gary Kirsten resigned over PCB issues, Jason Gillespie became the team’s white-ball coach for the Australia trip. Salman Ali Agha will be Rizwan’s vice-captain.
Vice-captain Agha remarked a day earlier that the players were motivated to do well and had planned their strategy around Australian circumstances and strengths.
