Pakistan Cancel Pre-Match Press Conference Before India Clash

There is further animosity on the brink of the expected Asia Cup 2025 Super Four between Pakistan and India amidst Pakistan suddenly cancelling their traditional pre-match press conference on Saturday.

The media conference was to be held at 6 pm local time in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, but according to the sources reported to Geo Super, it was cancelled without informing anyone.

The cancellation is the second incident of its cancellation in this tournament against Pakistan. The team also missed a planned press conference, prior to their third vital group-stage match with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was pressuring the match referee Andy Pycroft, to take action against the match referee, after an unsavory handshake incident that now had become the topic of discussion.

The controversy started when Pakistan was playing a group match against India and the Indian players like the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, did not shake hands on the toss and after the match. The Indian team withdrew directly to their dressing room and closed the door on the traditional post-match gesture, leaving Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and his colleagues on the field. Naveed Akram Cheema, the team manager of Pakistan filed a formal complaint with ICC claiming that Pycroft had mishandled the situation.

As no stated reason was given for cancelling the match on Saturday, there is endless speculation that the ruling may have been connected to the current tensions between the PCB and the ICC.

With the two teams ready to engage each other in one of the most hyped matches in the tournament, the off-field controversy has only served to increase the expectations of an electric match on Sunday in Dubai.
