Rain spreads from the coast to the interior of the Eastern Cape

Rainfall spreads across the Eastern Cape as coastal showers and interior storms combine, bringing persistent wet conditions to the province.

Rain spreads from the coast to the interior of the Eastern Cape

The Eastern Cape will experience widespread rainfall as showers move along the South Coast and extend inland. Coastal areas will see steady rain, while interior regions face scattered showers and thunderstorms.

According to forecaster Odirile Modipa, “Showers are expected along the South Coast, extending into the eastern part of the country.”

This system continues to draw moisture inland, sustaining rainfall across much of the province.

Interior regions of the Eastern Cape cool down

Overnight temperatures dipped noticeably in the interior. George recorded a minimum of 17°C, with the South Coast staying near 18°C.

Daytime conditions will remain mild, with maximum temperatures reaching the mid-20s.

“Along the South Coast, maximum temperatures will peak around 25°C,” Modipa said.

Thunderstorms still a risk

While the Eastern Cape avoids the highest-level warnings, isolated thunderstorms remain possible, particularly inland. These storms may bring brief heavy rain and gusty winds. Residents should remain alert, especially in low-lying areas prone to water accumulation.

Emergency services advise caution when travelling during rainy periods and recommend monitoring weather updates as conditions evolve.
