Rassie Erasmus vs Jacques Nienaber: Springbok win-rates

Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber are now tied on the amount of games coaching the Springboks. We see how their stats compare.

Rassie Erasmus vs Jacques Nienaber: Springbok win-rates

Rassie Erasmus finished 2024 with eleven wins in thirteen, winning The Rugby Championship and inflicting a clean sweep on the United Kingdom.

The Springboks concluded the year dominantly, dismantling an already crippled Wales team 45-12 at Cardiff’s Principality stadium.

Not only did this cap off a faultless Autumn series, but it notched Rassie Erasmus’ Springbok game count to thirty-nine – the same amount as 2023 World Cup-winning coach Jacques Nienaber.

So, how do the two compare?

Erasmus recovering from surgery

Days after his clean sweep of the United Kingdom, the three-time World Cup winner Rassie Erasmus shocked the nation when he went to hospital for an operation.

“I’m having a shoulder operation here, I’m not going to show the pictures because I don’t think it’s worth showing. All OK, I think I will be out of the hospital by the weekend,” the Springbok coach confirmed.

He swiftly changed the subject by applauding his players and fans, saying, “I wanted to thank the fans for the amazing support this year. Even when we tried some things and things weren’t going well, you were always standing behind us.

“To our players who made it into the Dream XV and Sacha nominated and almost got it there, we are all proud of those guys,

“I hope you have a great time over the festive season. Fortunately, we have the URC now and some of the boys are playing, to all the fans I hope you have good holidays.

“Let’s stay nice and humble, support each other and help us keep our feet on the ground. We play for you guys and for South Africa, also for those abroad who understand and see what we stand for as the Springboks – I appreciate that a lot.

“At the end of the day, it is all just a game that we are all proud of. Merry Christmas and hope you all have a lekker festive time. I will probably only hop on Twitter next (year) again. Cheers.”
