FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:
1.Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places in the western Bushveld and Lowveld of Limpopo, North West, the central and western parts of the Free State, the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape as well as the north-eastern interior of the Eastern Cape
ADVISORIES:
1.A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected to continue over Gauteng, in places on the Highveld of Mpumalanga, the south-western Bushveld of Limpopo, the central and eastern parts of the North West and the northern parts of the Free State until Friday (07 October 2022).
2. Hot and humid weather leading to extremely uncomfortable conditions are expected over the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and in the Lowveld of both Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Temperature and UVB forecast
Gauteng:
Temperature: Fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy in the south from the afternoon.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.
Mpumalanga:
Temperature: Fine and hot but very hot to extremely hot in the Lowveld.
Limpopo:
Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot.
North-West Province:
Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon. It will be windy in the west.
Free State:
Temperature: Fine, windy and hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms in the central and eastern parts from the afternoon.
Northern Cape:
Temperature: Morning fog patches over the south-western interior, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot in the north and north-east.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh souhterly to south-easterly.
Western Cape:
Temperature: Cloudy to partly cloudy in the south and west with light rain in the south-west spreading to the south coast by late afternoon, otherwise fine and cool but warm in the Central Karoo.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable north of Cape Columbine in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly but strong between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas in the afternoon. It will become moderate to fresh south-westerly by the evening.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate
Eastern Cape:
The Western half –Cloudy with fog patches in places in the morning, otherwise fine and warm but cool along the coast and adjacent interior. Isolated showers and rain can be expected along the south coast and adjacent interior in the evening.
The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.
The Eastern half -Cloudy with mist south of the escarpment in the morning, otherwise fine and warm but cool along the coast and adjacent interior. It will become cloudy with isolated showers and rain in the east from late afternoon.
The Eastern half -The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.
Kwazulu-Natal:
Temperature: Fine and warm to hot but very hot in places in the north. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon
