RIP: Queen to be laid to rest with parents, Prince Phillip

Queen Elizabeth II will be laid to rest at Windsor Castle’s King George VI Memorial Chapel, with her parents and the body of her late husband Prince Phillip will be moved to join her.

Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at Balmoral on 8 September.
Page Six reports that the Queen will be laid to rest at Windsor Castle’s King George VI Memorial Chapel. This is where her parents King George VI, who died in 1952, and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who died in 2002 have been laid to rest. The Queen’s sister Princess Margaret had also been laid to rest at Windsor Castle’s King George VI Memorial Chapel.
Prince Phillip, who was the husband of the Queen, will be moved to join her. His remains are at the Royal Vault at St. George’s Chapel. Prince Phillip passed away in April 2021 at the age of 99.
The burial is set to take place after the state funeral at Westminster Abbey.

KING CHARLES TO BEGIN HIS REIGN
The reign of King Charles officially began when Queen Elizabeth II passed away. BBC reported that he will be known as King Charles III. The former Duke of Cornwall is expected to officially be proclaimed as King on Saturday 10 September.
This will happen at St James’s Palace in London, in front of a ceremonial body known as the Accession Council.
King Charles paid tribute to his mother via his first statement as King.
“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” he said in a statement.
“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world,” he continued.
