SANParks suspends indemnity forms at Table Mountain National Park
SANParks has suspended the indemnity and verification form requirement at Table Mountain National Park with immediate effect.
South African National Parks (SANParks) has suspended the indemnity and verification form requirement at Table Mountain National Park with immediate effect.
The measure had been introduced to strengthen verification and governance processes at park entrances.
However, SANParks acknowledged that its implementation resulted in operational delays and frustration among visitors and tourism stakeholders.
In a statement, the agency said it had listened to concerns raised by visitors and tourism partners and had acted decisively to address the issue.
Digital system to be introduced
SANParks announced that over the next 12 months it will roll out a fully digitised ID and passport verification system at park gates. The upgrade will include high-speed scanning technology designed to ensure accurate compliance while improving the overall visitor experience.
During the transition period, Table Mountain National Park gate operations will continue without the indemnity and verification form requirement.
The move is aimed at balancing governance compliance with efficient access to one of the country’s most visited national parks.
